Flexographic

  • Rubber (Cyrel) plates – 75 line screen
  • Least expensive – Done in-line (while folding)
  • Prints on envelope die cut blanks
  • Prints blank 2 over 1
  • No duotones
  • No solids over 4×4 area – May look blotchy

Jet Offset

  • Offset printing on metal plates
  • Prints folded envelopes
  • 2 color printer that perfects front & back of envelope
  • Only prints PMS colors
  • Does not print on coated stock
  • Prints excellent registration but heavy solids will offset
  • Has trouble with bleeds
  • 150 line screen

Lithography

  • Most expensive
  • We have a 5-color 40″ Komori with coater
  • No printing restrictions
  • Prints offset or coated stock
  • Will run many copies on one sheet
  • 175 offset and coated line screen

Enhanced Flexographic

  • Expensive and designed to compete with lithography
  • Comparable with litho but not as good
  • Few printing restrictions
  • Prints offset or coated stock

Available Paper Stocks

All options are available from Royal Envelope as FSC, Recycled or both.

Offset – Bond and Text

  • Considered interchangeable for envelopes
  • Brightness can range from 88 to 94
  • Used for flexo, Jet and litho

Opaque

  • Brightness can range from 92 to 98
  • Used for flexo, Jet and litho

C1S – C2S

  • Considered interchangeable for envelopes
  • This sheet is the smoothest and thinnest
  • Finished with “calendar rolls”
  • Brightness can range from 90 to 96 depending on the mill
  • Some web grades can have brightness in the mid 80s

Matte

  • This is usually the bulkiest and cheapest alternative
  • Options are #1, #2 and #3 sheets. Main difference is brightness
  • #1 – 96 and up, #2 – 92 to 95, #3 – 88 to 91
  • Some web grades can have brightness in the mid 80s

  • Sub categories that can be mill specific and qualities can range
